Africa |
Ah!! Now this is the real deal with wildlife photography - I can't get enough of them. Wow! What a country, with such an abundance of wildlife to capture. From the heights of The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda to experience the mountain gorillas, to the spectre of the rich Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. Due to the gorillas' black colouring, the challenge is to capture the detail of these marvellous creatures. |

Antarctica |
“Happy Feet” before your spellbound eyes and gapping mouth! Their lack of fear of humans was simply overwhelming and when an inquisitive rock hopper climbed up onto my lap, I was just in seventh heaven. A very private, tranquil experience as no one else was around to witness its actions. |

Australia |
Travelling from Cameron's Corner to Broken Hill my interest in wildlife photography really came alive. An inquisitive group of ten emus came dancing, prancing towards us; unfortunately being very brightly backlit. On the back seat I have the 2 x SLR's in readiness, one with the 300mm zoom lense and the other with the wide angle lense - ready to go. The Australian animals are quite skittish to capture. |

Just like other wildlife that is protected, the polar bear was just as inquisitive to see us as we were to view them! In my photography work I found I really did need a 600mm zoom to shoot this unique wildlife, I took a 400. Shooting mode AV exposure1-2 stops up, WB on automatic, ISO 100-600.
Just one of the most special wildlife animals we need to take care of! Everyone had or has a special 'teddy' in their lives, these a tad larger! |

New Zealand |
The garden tour completed, I stayed on in Dunedin to travel with 'Elm Wildlife Tours' to capture the Yellow-eyed Penguins. Although I found New Zealand lacks in wildlife, these penguins in the Otago Peninsula region, found only in NZ, are the rarest of the world's 18 species of penguins - a must to see. |
